what if tonight you heard someone knocking on your door and you open...voila it's jesus! you are so happy that you immediately invite him in and serve him w the best food you can find in your house and both you start talking like old friends. you ask him all the questions that you ever wanted to ask. you ask him why did you come to my house and he said i came here to see you and you felt so special and happy. when it's getting dark you ask him if he has anywhere to stay he said he wants to stay in your house so immediately you prepare the guest room for him. knowing that jesus is in town, you take a week off your school just to spend time w jesus. you all go to jurong bird park, night safari, sentosa (probably not the casino though) and took lotsa pictures and tagged jesus in your facebook photos. eventually the week passed and and you go back to school and jesus goes to school with you as well...he is there during your lecture, he is there when you are playing sports, he is there when u eat in the canteen, he goes back with you to your house...and you find it too overwhelming...you don't want jesus to be there when u are gossiping about your classmates, you don't want jesus to be there when u are insulting other people, u don't want jesus to be there when you are telling a lie or cheating....you don't want jesus to be there when you are watching porn on the internet.... so you devised a plan and spent all your savings to zhng the guest room into the best room you can afford...42" LCD tv... air con...attached bathroom ...a super big wardrobe...a super big window so that jesus can see everything that he created when he wakes up in the morning...but the catch is that there is a big lock on this guest room...jesus will spend his days in this 5-star room that you have build for him...you seldom talk to him anymore but when u need help like during exams or interviews u knock on the door and ask him to bless u.
sounds all too familiar?
shared by my church pastor a few weeks back and thought that it is quite insightful... christianity is about the personal relationship w God but do we really treat it as one or do we fall in the trap of making Jesus our atm and santa claus?
p/s: to pre-believing friends: open the door. you know He is knocking.
