just came back from mission trip to pekan bahru. it is my first mission trip ever. really didn't know what to expect or even think how can me, as i am, be able to bless the kids over there. as it turns out, God is always in control and this trip has been a great blessing to the kids and to me. not because of who i am but because who He is. thought i should write down a few lessons that i've learnt.

#1 everything happens for a reason: being a malaysian, i am able to speak conversational malay, which is highly similiar to bahasa, the main language of communication over there. when i first signed up, i didn't even know which country pekan bahru is in, much less actually choose there because i thought my broken malay can be put into use. but i am glad that God planned it out well and i was able to do some simple translation and spoke to the kids.

#2 God meets us where we are: as the kids are really young kids, some as young as 2 years old, they are really little and when we play games or teaching them to dance we had to kneel down so that they will be comfortable playing with us. physically stepping down to minister somebody is very easy but in life sometimes we find ourselves in the need of stepping down or up emotionally and theologically to minister the people around us and a lot of times we realize that we do not have that bandwidth and wisdom to do that. i myself am struggling with that inadequacy because i have stumbled people with my lack of wisdom. but what really comforted me was that Jesus himself did not stay high up and judge us when he could and should but he came down to live with us and die for us. He meets us where we are.

#3 you can serve and glorify God from where you are: on this trip, i just feel so blessed that there are so many godly people from different stages of life that i can emulate. there are singles, engaged, married without kids, married with kids and those married with kids even brought their kids to the mission trip. though not perfect, all of them reflect the glory of God and there is a sense of rest and peace in whichever stage in life that they are at. some of them are in full time ministry, some are not but all of them are serving in one way or another, regardless of which stage of life they are at.

this mission trip made me think, or rather re-think a lot of things that i am doing and how i am using my time.
back to the topic of the blog, its about change. i guess in some sense i am afraid of making a change or even declare that i am going to change because i am afraid that i am not going to pull it through. and sometimes i question myself whether i am using my chill and slack attitude to be passive and hide these fears. but i think its time to make a stand and submit everything onto Him

and I am getting there as fast as I can.

it's been a while since i last blogged but i somewhat feel compelled to pen down the thoughts that i have. yesterday a very good friend of mine happily told me that he was going to pop the big question to his girlfriend of 5 years. from the bottom of my heart i am very happy for him (they are really a very sweet and blessed couple) but at the same time i felt a tinge of disappointment in myself that i could not really put a finger to it. though i do not know his girlfriend before they got together, i was there when he shared with me how much he liked her and the excitement and concerns not knowing whether she likes him back too. fast forward 1 year (btw yes she liked him too!) it was my honor to help him to surprise his girlfriend for their one year anniversary. and now he is going to make the second most important and best decision of his life ( the top being giving his life to Jesus of course) and propose to her. they are certainly not the first couple in my circle of friends that's getting married but they are the only one that i think i witnessed right from the beginning and they are a couple that i really look up to.

i guess my disappointment came in the feeling of having not achieved anything as i really desire marriage too.

i tried and i failed.

but romans 8:28 correctly points out that everything happens for a reason that is His purpose. to be honest I've learnt and grown so much in knowing who i am and how i relate with people. more importantly i know God more and caught a glimpse of what it takes to be godly man.

as man, we are called to pursue woman. it is active and intentional. it is not passive like to attract or whatever mystery will have you believe in the game.

last year i wrote: she's on her way- and she's getting here as fast as she can.

but now although i dunno where she is i would like her to know that i am on my way- and i am getting there as fast as i can.

we were in school and i saw you hanging out with your classmates, and as always, you had a big smile on your face to light up the otherwise boring school day. i wanted to talk to you to find out how are you lately and that you could share with me whatever things that you are going through and tell you how sad i was when i lost another friend of mine to an accident so we should really cherish our friendship and spend more time together.

but at that moment i was busy doing something with my friends too. and seeing that you are having a great time with your friends i thought probably we could catch up another time. maybe tomorrow.

i woke up only to realise that you've already left us for almost a year now.

recently I read a book called "I kissed dating goodbye". Although it's title sounds like it is a anti-marriage/relationship-Christian-brain-wash book, it is actually campaigning against the idea of dating as we know it. Christians or non Christians alike I believe that most of us wants to end up in a blissful marriange and be faithful to the special someone who is as faithful and loves u as much in return. Dating, with no intention of marriage in mind, totally reduces the chance of that. Casual dating hastens the progression of intimacy, and before you know it you are doing intimate things that you would only want to do with that special someone, though you know in ur heart that he/she is not the one. and by intimacy it is not just physical relationship and having sex, the emotional aspect of intimacy that is invested with time, attention and energy is also equally important and more often than not we are giving it away cheaply as well. so the advice of the book is don't get into a relationship until you are ready to marry the person but at the mean time prepare and equip yourself to become the person your husband/wife want to be with.

Coincidentally I finished watching all 5 seasons of how i met your mother and though the portrayal of relationships in the show is as casual as it can be ( esp w Barney, but he is awesome), but there are elements of the show that echoe with the book in terms of the longing of the special someone and how Ted evolves and get ready through the events that eventually leads him to his special someone. There was one scene where Ted was inside a car w Stella and he told her how insecure and unsure whether he will meet his special someone and Stella said: "she's on her way---

and she is getting here as fast as she can."

du2010 made me very happy and sad.

happy because:

the elements of the dance from concept, music, choreography and down to costume are all my favourites. i felt that i've achieved something w the item not because we've won any prize or anything but because the item was able to articulate to a certain extent (still got alot of zai ppl out there that i look up to!) what my ideals are in dance.

by my standards i actually think i've put in alot of effort in the item. On top of spending time on choreography (which means watching youtube btw), i even picked up adobe after effects to do the projector video. but i think all these effort are well worth it because the best part of the whole process was that i was able to share this w 16 other people in my item. when they said that they really enjoyed the dance and can feel it...it is as though they could feel what i am feeling just by doing the piece. they've worked hard and improved tremendously in 3 months and i am really proud of our performance. icing to the cake is that many ppl in the audience liked the dance too so yay

of course other than my item there are lots of gd stuff that happened w this DU: opportunity to be in wj dismas alvan's partay in the USA , watch dismas n chun's a moment to rmb, meet new friends/ catch up w old friends, take pictures, excuse to emo n drink, etc.

Sad because: all my 'happy' reasons + the fact that this is my last DU = sad. it's like you are just about to start something but it have to end already. the thought about having no more stage to perform is quite disturbing for any dancer i guess. feels like you've spent so much effort and time to hone your craft but suddenly there's no reason to improve anymore.

to kriss and dismas: u 2 are the power hse of krdance laa u all like how zai can! pls still got 1 yr make sure u all make full use of the year and impart all ur zai skills to the juniors can! (hint tech class hint DU/DP choreo!)

to current year 3s (goin yr 4s): step up! choreo more dance more watch youtube more. cherish all the time u have in the dance room! look how far you've come since year 1 don't let all those effort go to waste ok!

to dancers in OTL: alot of u r freshies n only did this item for this DU it's my honor that you chose OTL but i really hope u all will join more next year! feel really happy and excited for your krdance journey!

i know some of you maybe sad (or so i thought) that the fyfs are leaving/abandoning you guys but in many of ways, we are leaving a part of ourselves behind too.

when introduced to new friends, it's very natural for us to say "i'm a dancer" or "i dance" when asked for our interest. it will not be the same the next time i hear this question. i will hesitate. maybe it's time to examine what's left if the identity as a dancer is gone.

all said, i am really glad that i did this DU and even if i stop dancing from now on i would be able to look back and think of it as a nice full stop for my life as a dancer. however, i really want this to be comma instead of a full stop, a short respite in preparation of greater things to come.

look around you. think about your good friends. do you think they became your good friends because you all could get along well and your characters can "click"?

the truth is that more often than not your good friends are the people that you spend the most time with (as opposed to the common belief that you all became good friends thats why you all spend a lot of time together). it has little to do w character (of course if u totally abhor the person den no choice). simple test if u r in hall: u will find that most of your good friends are from your floor/ same activity that you join. (disclaimer: this theory only applies to "good friends" but not "BFFs/ BFFEs" between girls that i have trouble understanding)

this observation is something that i am afraid of after doing command and my last DU. As people move out of hall, it will be very hard for us to meet up and hang out.and all these friendships will just slowly fade into background as your new life gets filled w new people and new tasks. maintaining these relationships will require so much effort that i am worried that i myself would not be able keep up. the worst thing that could happen is not that friends grow hatred for each other but rather friends just slowly start to forget about each other and the memories they share together.

to moses, ycl-aymore and kane: thanks for all the suppers and mw2 sessions. you guys are the simplest and nicest guys i know. and by simple i don't mean u guys are innocent or stupid but rather u guys choose to be simple and true to yourself in this complicated world and i respect you guys for that. kane although u like to nit ppl i am glad that i get to know u much bttr in uni. gaylouz forever! ycl and moses thanks for being brothers in Christ and supporting me in my walk. moses and gracy tian chang di jiu pls and ycl we compete who gets attached first ok? oh and shout out to bear bear too: thanks for being such good friends in MSE. without bear bear, moses n kane i would have missed a ton of deadlines and failed like 100 MCs worth of modules.

to alexis and chunting: thanks for hanging out w me when i've got no friends in hall after coming back for noc. suddenly i transform from a loser w no friends to always having 2 hot girls arnd. NAISEee. ahah no la it is really fun to talk w u all/ see u all talk to each other (yuan lai guo ran zhen de yao umm u so bad). glad to know u guys even bttr during this sem. ooh and what i've nv tell u all before is that u all zhen de improve 91195211 times during the yr i was away. i was super impressed when i first saw u all dance after coming back! to the lao langs in 8gz and 8gz manager (CC, step, aili & waterboi): thanks for always coming up w meet ups and gatherings and always jioin me to each and everyone of them. it's a pity that i din get to know u guys super well when u all were still in hall but i am very happy that thru all these meet ups i get to know u all much better! this is one group of friends that i know will stick together. 8gz forever!

to dancers who have left hall prematurely (bixies and melly)(sry i cant find a better name for this group of people hahaaaa): really enjoyed hanging out and dancing w u guys (dance comm and partner!) when u guys were still in hall. i am really glad that we are still in contact though it is really hard for us to meet up (*ahem* mel). Glad to see you guys during command! must keep in touch!

to 3rd floorers 07/08 (luah, dy, arthur, tim, zhiping, nicky): ystd during block command i keep wondering how would it be like to command w u guys. Not to discount the block or anithing but honestly the best time i had in block was w u guys. i will rmb all the random rooftop sessions, CS sessions and chiong sessions. family...family thats what...

to NOC peeps (milpitas household esp.): it has been a great journey w all of u. dunno abt u guys but i damn gian to go back to california. ahh i am going to talk about my dance ouxiangs:

coulda, woulda, shoulda...

i actually learnt the exact same choreo to this song from shaun evaristo himself back in december in LA! he is a master at his craft but i am pleasantly surprised by how humble and down to earth a person he is. definitely my ouxiang in terms of his dance style and his attitude towards learning and dance. he is such an inspiration i am so glad that i took his class. i seriously think humble + zai is the sickiest combination! (btw the girl in the vid is aimee lucas and she is shaun's gf! perfect couple!)

ANYWAY i've been back for a while now...almost 2 months liao...hall feels different...or rather i feel different towards hall...not really active in hall stuff now even though i know that i need points to stay for next sem...now i am having a 2 day week of school but i feel tired so easily....den i see the ppl so very gang ho hall stuff it is really hard to imagine that i was once that enthu to do hall stuff...

block is different too all my 3rd floor mates are gone...no more rooftops and retarded conversations...good thing is i got my new desktop! i am going to list my computer's configuration though i know half of you can't understand:

wa i think using "of xxx, yyy, zzz" is a very seh way to name your blog entry or facebook album lerh. anw this is long overdue stuff. in my last two months in sv i was very fortunate to have visits from cc and mel chan! me and cc went to the winchester mystery house (on a friday the 13th flashlight tour summore ok). we got ourselves drunk (ok me only actually) before the tour so that we will enjoy the tour more and probably see some ghost! but sadly we did not see any and it was so boring zzzzzzz and because it was a flashlight tour at night we could not see the whole house's decoration and stuff nicely too...with melly chan we went to stanford (first time going stanford purely just to take pictures...dun really like to go to stanford cos it reminds me of classes and projects haha), failed alcatraz (we missed the ferry so we ended up loitering near pier 39), twin peaks (niceee sunset) and cheesecake factoryy....the sad part was that for both of you guys the chulian (first love) eggtarts shop is not open so u all missed the best egg tarts in the world! and somehow my friends dun like to take pictures w me so i dont have any pictures to post zzz....here's some shots taken nearby my hse!

this is qishan aka qisahn aka kee-shaun! he is from nus too but he is one batch later than me. you might find his nickname qisahn very familiar because qisahn.com is the biggest psp, ps3, xbox, wii retailer in singapore (www.qisahn.com). this guy is born w the keen eyes to find the best deals so you can be sure that his prices are guaranteed lowest! super nice guy too helped me to sell my car!

the curious case of time traveller's wife in 500 days

flying 10 thousand miles is damn xiong. the original plan was to dun sleep the night before the flight and sleep during the flight but somehow on the plane cannot sleep also cos got alot of mixed feelings and unrealness. turned out pretty well though cos when i reach sg at 2am i was so tired i could slept immediately and i was able to adjust my body clock w ZERO jet lag. pro sial. but that means i had to kill 20 hours during flight heng nwa got on flight entertainment i re-watched a few movies: transformers 2 (still sucked the second time i watch it) ironman (rdj is still damn seh), and GI Joe ( i am still zhen xin towards sienna miller). but what i want to talk about is actually the 2 movies that i did not watch when it was showing in the cinemas (cos i thought they were gay)and i watched them the first time during the flight: time traveler's wife and 500 days of summer.

they are quite similar in the sense that the film is not presented in a chronological order but rather random snippets in a fashion that kind of made sense. time traveler's wife is more emo while 500 days of summer is more light hearted but kind of emo as well. both movies kind of gravitate around the idea of having "the one" in relationship (the guy believes that the girl is the one in 500 while the wife know who the husband is cos the husband traveled back in time to meet her and they all fell in love in ttw). i think i could identify with 500 days of summer cos one of my close friends actually just ended a relationship that my friend thought was "the one" initially but it simply did not worked out. it is really a hard period for my friend.

in a more general sense it's the idea of destiny and "meant to be" and this is in relevance to everything, not just relationships. of course as a christian i believe that God will provide and has a plan for me, there's alot of things that i definitely don't deserve, like going for noc being one of the big ones. however during the year that i spent in the states there were times where reality really hit me hard and i wonder is God really in control (many near death experiences (financial death included)) and started to struggle. after spending 1 year in the states, though i cant say "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." like paul did in timothy i know that God was looking after me and hey now i am back in singapore in one piece and i think i've learned and grown quite abit (ok you all can see whether this is true when u meet me, i still think i am retarded at times). i guess i will never fully understand how God's will and human's freewill can co-exist but i believe that He has His plans and timing and the beauty is not letting us know so that we will be interested and work hard in anticipation of a better future.

oh btw ttw and 500 dos are really nice movies go watch if you have not...if you like them i recommend curious case of benjamin button as well really interesting watch.

after coming back i realised that everything did not change much at all, it was as though i never left sg for a year. the whole experience was like a dream and now i just woke up from this long dream. looking forward to the next dream though!

yesterday was halloween! Had NO PLANS whatsoever initially because we were too occupied with our business case submission. Finally at 9pm we really felt like losers so we've decided to heck care the submission and drive down to San Francisco to see people in funny costumes and getting drunk. and i was retarded enough to forget my camera. zzz.

We parked at mission street (the only place that we know to have free parking in SF) and started our march to Castro Street (where we think the action is). On the streets it was really cool cos everybody was in costume...saw a loads of random characters...but my favourite is actually Po from teletubby...yup you won't wanna know how much teletubbies i watched.

Finally we've saw this random club that seems rather happening...so i followed my friends in...and the cover charge was $5...hmm pretty cheap huh...the club was packed the music was good and everyone were in their special costumes...den i thought i saw a guy in a princess costume...and the guy bartender smiled at my friend when he was getting the drinks...and finally the sight of 2 guys kissing sealed the deal...yup i have officially been into a gay club...for your information Castro is know for it's concentration of homosexuals in San Francisco and SF is the capital in this arena....when i got out of the club i realised all the guys around me are holding hands...In short, zhen de hen gay....

anyway on a totally irrelevant note, i realised that i game more before deadlines/exams. the reason being you wun allow yourself to go out and play because u know u need to do work but when u just can't get down to do the work so u end up playing stupid games...i think u guys understand what i'm saying...and yes i am obsessed with street fighter 3 now

woot i have a business case draft due in 3 days and i am around 3% progress but i've decided to watch youtube and slack and blog...guess nothing much has changed huh...

anw i wan to blog about something that i saw last sunday. i went LA during the weekend AGAIN but this time mainly for my project. so on the way back we've decided to take the highway 1 instead of highway 5 cos highway 1 is a scenic drive near the coast, though the route is longer than highway 5 by arnd 100 miles. so i was driving down and suddenly the on-coming cars started 'flashing' their lights (turning hi-beam on and off immediately).no just 1 or 2 cars but 5-6 cars in the row where doing this. i suddenly recalled that i've seen this somewhere: when i was a little boy i would see oncoming cars flashing as well and i would ask my dad what that meant. He said that the oncoming cars are trying to let us know that there are cops nearby...and i asked him why people would want to be nice to other people that they don't know or cant even see (passing by each other at 100mph)...and i forgot what he answered actually.but sure enough down the road i saw a cop camping, ready to prowl. i guess no matter how evil/corrupted the world you might think it is, there's always nice people and some niceness like flashing lights is actually universal. and although i couldn't recall what my dad said, i guess i sorta came to understand and appreciate the niceness in people and it's probably what my dad wanted me to learn then (sadly it took me 17 years).

ppl are nice ok. the nice nice not the pleasant/nice ok.

people around me are getting attached! feel so happy for them and on a certain level envious of their bliss. since they are only going to see their other halves in 2 months time, they have no one to channel their lovey dovey energy so they started acting weird around the house...which is kinda funny but it makes me look forward to the NORMAL life that i can lead in 2 months time haha..

however some people that i know are having a rough patch in their relationship now...it is especially harsh for those who has been together with an extended period of time...and as stupid as it may sound...i envy them in a peculiar manner too...i think that facing the problem, trying to work things out, even at the risk of losing each other is a very bold thing to do and i think it gives a very deep meaning to what being in love is (a random analogy would be that near death experience as a way to remind that you are alive) . i just pray that it will work out for it's best and they won't have to go through too much tough times to get there.

didn't used to think about this kinda of things too much but i guess being single for 4 years really made me think of things that i otherwise would not. oh let's see what bible says about being single: "Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I am. " (1 Cor 7:8). GG

last week i went to LA again for dance classes and bonnie was kind enough to allow me to crash in her apartment at USC. debbie reynolds dance studio is in north hollywood while USC campus is in downtown LA so I had to take the metro to commute back n forth. So while waiting for the metro a guy handed me this:

whoooooaaa 1 thousand US dollars cold hard cash! thats like 4k ringgit! i never see before ok.

on the other side of the note:

potong steam. surprise surprise, it is not 1 thousand dollar! it is a message about Jesus Christ! it talks about how money itself is not root but the love of money is and how believing in Him will give us eternal life (which btw is true, read john 3:16). being a christian myself, i totally have no problems with the message itself but i am rather disturbed by the way it is presented. is the gospel so repulsive that it has to be sugar-coated just so that it can be easily swallowed? i used to attend chinese church when i was young and gospel when translated to chinese is called fu-yin(福音) or happiness-tune/message. And why does message that gives people happiness require so much gimmick/marketing?

this being a video from the channel "Amazingatheist" i do not agree with 95% of what he says but i believe that he shares the same disgust that i have against such methods. Is there a need to sneak in Jesus? i believe that the Good News can be shared in any way so long as it is effective in reaching out to a group of people (Mars Hill Church is a punk rock church) and the essential message of john 3:16 remains intact but i think there's a line where after you crossed it you sort of belittle of the message and the gimmicks take the center stage instead of salvation.

this brings me to people who "preach" at junctions as well. in LA and las vegas (there's actually people doing this when i was going for the killer's concert as well) , it is not uncommon to see people using a microphone and a speaker warning passer-bys that if you do not believe in Jesus you will be sent to hell ( which btw again is true) but from a passer-by perspective you kinda wonder is the guy doing it out of love for his neighbours or are being judgemental and mocking people...

i know i am being judgemental though i am not supposed to but as i always say " i am not there yet" hahaha

p/s: just kena fined $400 USD for parking my car in front of a person's driveway in SF. i could really use the $1000 dollars! drinking Hornsby (can someone find out how to get this in sg?) now to feel better.

qn: what's better than watching the killer's concert?

last week i went to watch them live in concert! again! this time i got the lawn seats...much further from the stage when compared to the first time i saw them... i was watching the screens for most of the concert. it was at an amphitheatre so the lawn is pretty cool and you can see alot of ppl esp couples lying on the grass enjoying the night breeze (before the start of the concert that is). they brought their own blanket/spread to keep themselves cosy cos the night was pretty cold actually. nonetheless the concert was still awesome! killers jiu shi killers...though i was further away this time i think i enjoyed myself as much if not more compared to the first time (i think it is because i know more songs this time round!). brandon flowers is still very seh and Somebody Told Me is an amazing number when the killers perform it live.

last night i watched the vma awards! yes yes i know kanye is a d-bag for what he did to taylor swift but hey if not for him i won't have checked out taylor's winning video (i guess no publicity is bad publicity):

the video was pretty cute and the best part is that taylor is playing both the innocent girl and the evil girl friend! (it's ok it took me sometime too all angmoh looks the same to me)

but the part that i liked most is actually the michael jackson tribute...i found out that the dancers are actually superstar choreographers like wade robson and ann m. gibson...no wonder so zai!...a movie made from the rehearsal of MJ's "this is it" concert will be released in october...though i know it's just a ploy to milk money i got a feeling that i will still watch it hahaa...

last weekend was a long weekend, labour day yay! and we drove 8 hours to LAS VEGAS!

haha still remember watching this when i was primary six. seeing las vegas with my own eyes is pretty unreal...at night we watched the blue man show in the venetian. It was out of this world, nothing like anything i've seen before. ahh i din not bring camera to the venetian. basically they recreated venice and there's a indoor water channel where the guest can tour thru the shops on a gandola. There are many shows that I would really like to watch like all the cirque du soleil shows and the penn & teller show and criss angel show.

las vegas is almost magical and i don't mean it in a good way. here you see what money can really buy you. everything is so exagerated and expensive. everything is so posh and highclass and gold and shiny. but you can't help but feel empty because you know at the back of your head that everything here is man-made and they are all but an empty shell, a hollow facade trying to put a pretty face on the ugly truth. vegas is able to warp your senses, and in casinos you will view money as game credits instead of something that can be exchanged for something that is valuable like food. there were many times i see my friend's "crazy eyes" and saying that "just one more try, i will win back all my money" and end up getting burnt. vegas is also haven for pleasure seekers. worse still, pleasures are easily accessible even to those who are not looking for it. seriously i believe that indulging in all these will mess yourself up. not that i think life should be boring and without pleasures but there must be a reason for pleasure itself. It's like how sex is meant to be enjoyed by people in marriage. seeking pleasure and pleasure alone will just leave yourself empty and screw up the values on how you view relationships and money etc. not trying to be preachy or saying that i am not tempted in anyway but this is kinda what i feel at the end of the trip. however the scariest part about vegas is that you do not feel wrong doing all these vices because it is so accessible and everyone is doing it. i guess it resonates with the saying that "the best lie Satan can tell you is that he does not exist". with that said, i guess vegas is still a fun place to hang out with friends and all the shows are pretty interesting. i will definitely come again if i have much much more money to burn (stay in bellagio penthhouse!!)

yes i am going to blog about my east coast now! have been lazy to blog about it though it happened almost a month ago! it was trully a crazy n fun trip!

krystle burger in Atlanta! it is those mini burger like those from white castle (the same white castle in Harold and Kumar goes to White Castle)! thought I could catch some sleep on the plane...but I need to transfer plane at Atlanta before reaching Ohio...so cannot sleep...zzz.

Finally after driving 2 hours from the Akron airport in Ohio I reached CEDAR POINT to find the B-Blockers working at Cedar point! ahh very gandong that ding yuan and von han took their day off to pei wo for the whole day!

this ride is called dragster...accelerates u from 0-120 MILES/HOUR in 4 SECS...and you go up 90m high and come down...i din take this in the end =(

my first ride of the day...ding yuan's favourite ride...called max air....swings 120 degrees...know the funny air time feeling when u are drop from a slope in a coster ride? u get this feeling the whole time when u are on this ride...nicee...more exciting than von han's favourite ride- blue streak...

wicked twister....my 2nd ride...waste of time...max air set the bar too high....

this has to be my favourite ride of the park! its called mavericks...see the weird curvature of the drop? ... it features a 95 degrees drop...yup it caves in...and the it accelerates you twice in the ride...nicee...

i took other rides in between...but this is the last ride of the day...i took it at night... its called millenium force...it was either this or dragster...i am glad i chose this...awesome ride...

In all the east coast experience was quite a fulfiling one...glad to meet up w my sis n her bf n bblockers and jc friend after not seeing them for more than half a year...the bad thing was that everyone i met told me that i become fat liao hahahah....dieeeee....the feeling is quite unreal...always see these places in tv but nv rly thought that i would actually go there (i've only been to 3 countries: msia, singapore, and US)...but actually i think all these places are abit overrated lerh...new york reminds me of kuala lumpur hahaha very dirty and not organised...oh well...

ok time for a short update...just got back from east coast damn fun i tell u but i will do that in the next update...for those who do not know july fourth is independence day! no no alien invasion but it is the equivalent of national day in sg. and this means holiday no work!

met up with sec sch ah bang weijie KOE (not the kronos weijie...apparently i mixed them up once when some one in hall asked me for kronos weijie's number hahaha weijie koe later asked me not to give his number to random GUYS ). he brought ying ying and robyn and so we went to six flags discovery kingdom!

the rides were ok but later on i realised they were nothing compared to those at cedar point... but the best part is that between rides you can watch animal shows...we watched a dolphin show which is quite impressive!

on saturday we went out the USS hornet to see july fourth fireworks!

this is a real air craft carrier that served in the second world war okay...damn cool la...

i keep thinking about transformers somehow...

apparently USS hornet also did the rescue mission for apollo 13 ( they retrieved the astranauts after they land in the sea)...this is the quarantine thingy in case the astranaunts kena h1n1 on the moon...

got a very old uncle inside the cockpit pretending to be a pilot ok you can ask him questions like "are you a real pilot" or "why did u suit up although you know that you are not going to fly the plane?" yes i am kidding

this past week was quite interesting so it is worth blogging abt to act happaning. Bob, a member of the Church cell group that I attend invited steven, michael and me to have a ride on his PLANE! like how singaporeans take their cars for a spin during the weekend, ang mohs in california have private planes like these to take them to their vacation lodge on some mountain or natural reserve. gooood lifeeee....

i din hold the mic to act seh...i did it to stop it from poking me...

the engine does 11 miles per gallon...definitely american...

it was truly a remarkable experience to be on a plane like that. Bob learned flying when he was more than 60 yrs old! kudos to him! inspired me to become a pilot for the rest of the day! pilot is damn seh la those who watched Good Luck! by takuya kimura will agree w me. sad reality is that i wun be able to afford a car much less a plane zzzz. And during the weekend i went to LA to take dance classes siao on right? actually i din plan to go one but the greyhound bus ticket to LA was $17 dollars ROUND TRIP and being malaysian i am very vulnerable to such temptations...

after the classes on saturday i went to hollywood at night...and i went to the ripley's believe it or not museum and it was a total waste of money zzz... at the star walk there were many people dressing up as movie characters and they are quite interesting...joker seems to be pretty popular though i saw 3 jokers on the street hahhaha oh and i saw jesus eating in a mexican restaurant hahahahhahah but the best suit of the day is still:

as you all michael jackson passed away in LA last week as well...regardless of whether the accusations are true or not, he IS the king of pop and has definitely shaped our lives and our world in one way or another. on hollywood star walk there are tiles with the name of stars and people are putting flowers and cards on his tile in remembrance of him. it's a sad sight to see...

Last weekend jocelyn quan yong peckying is in san francisco! apparently joce and peeking are doing some lesbian module (hmmm...) in UCLA but decided to spend the week before sch in SF! SY just graduated so this is part of his graduation hols! erm and MQ is just rich... Anw I fetched them to Gilroy for a shopping trip on friday and we ended the night with a dinner at Banana Leaf (Authentic SG/Msia fooood). I was craving for some of that food and I asked them if they were craving too but I suddenly realised they were only here for less than a week zzz...Was supposed to crash at their hostel in SF but the security guard somehow was very particular about producing the ID and wun let me in! Luckily I managed to contact Hong Pang who is still working in SF (at 1am!) and crashed at his place in Daly City instead

The next day after waking up late and having one Golden Gate Egg Tarts (gives me the feeling of chu1 lian4!) we set off to Sonoma where there's alot of winery! Only me and siyong were able to appreciate the view along the drive, somehow the rest has this special ability to sleep once they are in the car...

sorry joce i was trying to take the tractor that pulls the tram...we were waiting for the tram that will bring us around the winery!

last weekend i went to seattle! almost missed the plane ok the PA system was calling out my name! nonetheless after a 1.5 hr flight on virgin airlines i've reached seattle!!! rest of the guys are going to canada but me vidit and tianglim were stuck in seattle because we not singaporean and need to apply visa! i forgot to bring my camera so everything here is taken on my iphone 3G (a newer iphone 3Gs is out btw zzz)

He is a model ok girls please hold on to your saliva...he super nice la bring us around seattle and introduced me to ROCK BAND totally addicted to it now seriously considering getting one for my household...

LA Again!

Last weekend was memorial weekend = first day off since i start work! wheeeeeee so i went LA again on friday night! after 5 hrs of driving (ok actually only tianglim was driving i was sleeping...halfway thru my sleep he woke me up to see a burning card in the middle of the road...totally random)! I didn't manage to book a place to stay for the night after we reached LA so we parked in front of one random house (the house that looks the most safe) and slept in the car! hahah next day i met up with stephanie (njc dance junior who is dancing 24/7 after her SEP) and bonnie (stephanie's friend) and we went to universal studios (again! season pass rox!). We felt hungry so we ate at the forrest gump restaurant at city walk!

They actually spending the whole month in LA to improve their skills (they do this every summer)! We went to have korean BBQ after that! At night me and tianglim went to hollywood to watch terminator 4! how can you say that you've been to LA without going to hollywood?

this weekend is not a happening weekend i basically rotted in my room for the whole day. but to act haps i shall do about the rides i took last weekend at Great America!

malaysia: truly asia. oops i mean great america ok no link

the merry go round looks really pretty but i din get to ride it cos we got no time cos we entered the park at 5 pm (park closes at 8pm) cos tickes are half price after 4pm cos we are cheapo

our first ride: vortex! sebastian looking very emo in the picture with the clouds and everything. vortex is a standing roller coaster. looks quite scary from the outside but the actual ride wasnt too scary and it was very short.

not much of a spongebob fan.

chuckie! i love rugrats!

a ride orinally called top gun...based on the movie of the same name. it is a inverted roller coaster (the track is above your head). pretty nice ride felt a little giddy after the ride. apparently in 1997 a person tried to retrieve his hat somewhere near the tracks and was kicked in the head by one of the riders in the oncoming roller coaster. the person died and the rider broke his leg.

this ride is called invertigo. see the v shaped track? they are the two ends of the track so the ride goes from one end to the other and reverse back to to the starting end. the seats are situated such a way that the riders are facing each other so u can see your friend's face during the ride!

look at how the tracks are twisted! nice.

the drop tower: rated 4 stars for thrill level according to the park (all the previous rides are rated 5). but this is the scariest ride of all. basically it slowly brings u up to 207 feet (70 meters) and drops u down! all 4 stars of the thrill packed in 3 seconds! really made me humji and scream like a girl...

apparently a 12 year old mentally disabled kid managed to slide under the restaraint in 1999 and fell to his death while taking the ride.

looks like a scene in a haunted theme park. the merry go round looks really eerie at night. especially if it turns when no one's on it and starts to play the creepy music.

we took a few more rides after that and managed to cover almost all the 4 & 5 stars rated rides. the park is actually quite near my house, a less than 10 minutes drive away! didn't know the rides are so awesome! should have come earlier cos we missed a few water based rides zzz. looking at the average age of the people in the park, i guess i am too old for the rides already hahaha but it was still fun nonetheless. the rides here are thrilling but i like the rides in universal studios better cos even though the rides there are less thrilling, they have a story to go with the ride which makes them really interesting.

bonus! my dream car (at least one of them) mazda RX-7!

i dunno to put this under odxm or a normal blog post. May be the kokest thing that i've ever done in US hahahaha. Anyway KFC is trying to be healthy and all so they introduced the grilled chicken to slowly replace the fully fried one. Check it out at KFC.com. So last monday they had a promotion, FREE CHICKEN FOR EVERYONE! Just show up at any outlet and they will give you FREEEEE chicken! ok you know how malaysians function, where we hear the word free we feel adrenaline rush all over our body. That's when me and tiang lim (malaysian as well) decided to RAID THE KFCs!

when you fail to plan, you plan to fail. NO FAILURE IS ALLOWED FOR MY KFC RAID!!!

Actually alot of ppl are cheapos also see how long the line is. But i guess most of them actually bought food.

6th KFC! same drill without drive through. saw a bunch of kids trying to get more than 1 free piece of chicken but keep getting rejected. kids. if only they had a car. hahaha

we actually went back to the drive through KFCs to go for another round. just that this time we walked into the store to ask for free chicken. to ang moh all asians look the same. good thing to be asian when you are KFC raiding in US.

after 2 hours and 40 minutes, 31 miles of drive, 6 KFCs we present to you 17 pieces of FREE grilled chicken!

ok actually at the last KFC i felt guilty and bought a 99 cents snacker (mini-burger)

i ate 6 or 7 pieces of chicken that very night! i think i will skip KFC for the rest of the month (the raid happened on april 27th). oh its may already! lets go kfc again!

San Francisco city is a really pretty at some streets. But if you walked a little further from the nice streets you will be surprised to find yourself in streets that are filled with homeless people sleeping on the streets . you can see people scavenging rubbish dumps with their stolen shopping trolley. there's smell of urine in the air everywhere you go. people holding an empty cup in their hands asking you for quarters and spare change as you walk by. you will see entire different worlds just by walking down two streets. please consider yourself very blessed to have a job (a professional student!) and being able to read this blog at your own comfort.

ok that sounded abit serious. ANYWAY the following saturday (yesterday!) we went san francisco again!

up to 300 types of beer! more than 60 breweries! tickets sold out in first 2 hrs of sales!

its hard to behave yourself after drinking lots of beer.

everybody does this in the toilet to free up your hands. The cup is the most important thing in beer fest!

a familiar sight in my house but this is rather a fresh setting.

Beer fest is really interesting. So basically after you enter the warehouse like structure, you are given a small platic cup which will be your most important possesion throughout the festival. Everything inside the festival is free flow! just go to booths and they will fill up your cup! lost count of how many cups that i've drink. the best drink that i liked is something called hornbee hard cider because it tastes EXACTLY like china brand apple juice! just that this one will make you high! everyone in the festival is very high! from time to time people will hold up their cup and yell together. we just went around hi-fiving random people and cheers with them! took loads of random photos with random people as well (see fb) hahaha oh i am very glad for the fact that i din puke at the end of the day! yayyy ok byebye

anyway if you all know me i am not a big fan of rock music. So I went into the concert knowing less than 5 killers song (out of which I probably can sing along to only one of them(chorus)) and have totally no idea how the killers looked like. After 30 minutes into the opening band's performance i asked zy and tl: "err..this is not killers right?", they gave me the "you-shouldn't-be-here" look and laughed like mad. It took the stage crew another 30 minutes to set up for the killers after the opening band and all this while we were standing in the midst of the very huge crowd sweating and slowly feeling our legs giving way. Wa killers jiu shi killers, test mic and instruments also got ppl help them one go and stage can immediately perform liao.

Sure enough when the killers started the night with Human i know all the waiting and sweating was worthwhile. SUPER HIGH CAN! Human was followed by Somebody told me which was super duper high as well (2 of 5 songs that i know played within first 5 minutes of the concert =( ). The lead brandon rose (i just wikied him) was just too seh alrdy. Nobody can be so sehh one. I think his sehness is on par with justin timberlake (who IS the epitome of sehness, proof-> watch 3:19 of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRm2guLuej8&feature=PlayList&p=279FEFA85BD293C7&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=61 ). Half way through the concert i smell something and saw people smoking something that is not cigarettes. No wonder they so high! hahaha in between the other 5 songs that i know (which are mr brightside, spaceman and smile like you mean it) there were many songs that I've never heard before but somehow i liked them on the spot, probably due to the sheer awesomeness of their performance. I kinda regretted for not doing enough homework for the concert to enjoy it to the full extent! Hmmm on my way out of there's a brochure saying that they are coming again on september 12...retest?

ooh this weekend i went to napa valley with zeyanlimsg1985, meng kiat the bear bear, JJ pan jun jie and tian shuang who is always very shuang and nice enough to drive all of us down. Supposedly napa valley is known for its vineries and vineyard but we didn't visit them cos we reached there quite late and I didn't feel like drinking wine cos drank too much the night before. But the highlight of the day was to enjoy food in restaurant owned by a michelin awarded chef!

this is the french laundry. Ranked top 5 restaurants in the WORLD. Michelin 5 STARS. Cost per meal: $250++

apparently they grow all their ingredients at the nursery opposite the restaurant..

hmmm can feed alot of people...wait where's are the cows for steak? Is it a vegetarian restaurant?

no sight of cows or chickens here either..

BUT being as poor as we are we didn't eat at french laundry of course... we ate ad ad hoc...french laundry's friend...another restaurant opened by the same chef who opened the french laundry...think Armani and Armani Exchange...or McCafe and Macdonalds...okay wrong analogy...

Main Course! erm no its the bread from Bouchon...the bakery owned by the same guy! So ad hoc, Bouchon and French Laundry are actually all on the same street..

First course! Salad with dunno wad dunno wad dunno wad...apparently the french laundry serves the same dish on their menu as well and the veggies are from the nursery that we just visited!

Main Dish! Lamb steak with dunno wad dunno wad topped with dunno wad with asparagus and mushrooms and pseudo fried rice...The steak was really raw in my opinion...i only ate like a quarter of it and donated the rest to my friends...

3rd Course! Yakun Kaya Loti! eh no its bread with very old cheese on it (they should serve fresh stuff shouldn't they!) topped with dunno wad garlic onion thingy...

Dessert! Taste really good and sweet comes with cream also! But i dunno wad issit called...

The whole meal costs $50 which isn't too bad according to others who went but somehow i think i dunno how to appreciate it...funny was thinking about bak chor mee throughout the meal...sigh i guess i am not atas enough/ not born to become a rich guy! One day Xiao Ming, Xiao Hua, Xiao Qiang, Xiao Li, Xiao Mei were sharing a small umbrella on the streets of Ochard Road but magically none of them got wet. WHY?

because it wasn't raining that day.

Ok a that was a lousy joke. Anyway time to update my life! It's spring break! no school for 2 weeks! Time for a road trip? WRONG! still need to work everyday! Oh but last friday I managed to catch "Whose live anyway" that features the cast of the hit show "Whose line is it anyway?". Basically it is a impromptu show where the actors collect suggestions from the crowd and they must act it out there and then incorporating all the ideas! On top of it they had to make it funny haha got quite some laughs from them but the sound was quite muffled and I was sitting ALL THE WAY BACK (cheapest tix!). Wished there were subtitles or something. Weekend I went up to Milpitas to celebrate Set's birthday! Yes happy 22nd Set Ying Ting! Sunday I went for a dance class at San Francisco by Glenda Morales, a member of ABDC's Fanny Pak! She is very zai la the dance studio was so packed that people keep wacking me. Haha but I think I really chui la can't keep up at all totally wasted the opportunity. It only makes me feel sad that such zai people exists! zzz oh i fixed my muffler now it is not irritating AT ALL =( somehow I felt that I lost a part of my ah bengness by fixing that muffler! argh but now my car's good to go and I'm gonna use to take my driving test tomorrow! Wish me luck and pray for me!

weekend! no more money to go roadtrip liao so must shave some money. We went cheesecake factory in SF! It is on the top floor of macy's opposite the union square! After cheesecake factory we went to a park ggbridge... Golden Gate Bridge la and enjoyed the breeze over there.

Anyway something kok happened to me again, I was driving happily and safely on the road on my way to church when a cop pulled me over. I din't speed and I din't beat red light I was being super guai ok! He came to my car and signaled me to wind down my window (in US if you are pulled over you must remain in your vehicle...if you kay kiang open the door and leave the vehicle u the police will point a gun at u). He asked for my liscence and insurance and came back with a ticket. The Violation? Loud Exhaust. WHAT THE FACEBOOOK? Wah super stereotye la He must had thought that I am some vietnamese gang or ah beng la ok la zzz i think i kena all the kok stuff in US liao...*latest news* my speedometer died today...

watched street fighter: legend of chun li and miss march at night. Please DO NOT watch legend of chun li! Please DO NOT watch the clubbing scene in the movie! Total waste of time and money and energy (edmond chen aka chen zhi cai is in it so u know what to expect la). Miss march seemed superb especially after watching chun li. In the end I realised that both movie had super poor movie ratings on rotten tomatoes: 4% for chun li and 5% for miss march. Combined together, the two movie had a rating that is not even 2 digit. NICE.

After church I went to a church friend's house. His name is called Billy. He started a company and is very sucessful in life but (or rather because) he still remains close to God. Definitely somebody I want to learn from. 3 things that are most important in life that I learned from him:

1.Stay close to God.

2.Have a group of trustworthy friends.

3.Keep yourself healthy!

Life is just that simple.

over the weekend we went LA yayyy...after 5-6 hours of SAFE driving , we became LA-BOYZ wooot! ok for those who dunno who LA BOYZ are you are too young or too kantang to be reading my blog! haha

Simpsons ride! Besides simpsons ride I also took mummy (yes the one covered in toilet rolls NOT your mother) and jurrasic park rides. The mummy ride was cool and really fast (it was indoors) but it was kinda short. The jurassic pak ride is kinda like a boat ride thingy with all the water splashing and dinasuars spitting water at you. This is the ride you always see on the tv where the boat rides down the hill and ends up in a huge splash.

ok this is my first car! mitsubishi eclipse '99! totally complements my alter-ego as a malaysian ah beng - super loud car but super slow hahaha and the best part is when you drive you'll feel as if the car is speeding at 120 miles per hour but actually you look at the speedometer its only 30 miles per hour. nice.

snowww. went to heavenly of lake tahoe to ski (first time). touched snow for the first time of my life. touched alot of snow in fact by the end of day. ate some too haha.

in fact i wasn't even in the same car i was sleeping in the bus
this is one of the slopes that ppl ski. it is steeeep.

these are called lifts. not to be confused with elavator that you find in office buildings and escalator that you find in shopping malls.

somehow i look like i am wearing tudung while trying to put on some biking gloves...its high time to invest in a proper ski/winter/act seh jacket i guess..

i have problems climbing stairs with the ski shoes on.

no i am not trying to learn bboy headspin with that helmet.

so i started skiiing! tried the newbie slope a few times and thought that it was too easy for me. so i tried the intermediate one. the lift ride to the top of the intermediate slope took 10 minutes (newbie lift took 2-3 minutes). oh should be alright la, abit higher only ma. starting was actually ok, the terrain was still quite flat. then suddenly everything became at least 45 degrees like the picture of steeep slope i posted earlier. den i started falling. and fall again. and again. again. i stood up, ski-ed for 4m and fell. repeated the process for N number of times where N is a large number. felt like i broke some bones everytime i fell but thank God i just collected some aches all over body (which i am experiencing now). ate alot of snow in the process. should have brought some strawberryyyy syrup along. i fell so many times that in the end for the last 10% of the slope i took out my skis and started walking while carrying my skis. ok thats my first experience of skiing! quite fun la but i don't think i will go again anytime soon.
